The leg bone's connected to the knee bone and the knee bone's connected to the thigh bone! In this workshop, we'll learn about anatomy and the proportion of our skeleton, and then create an impressive line drawing. We'll also learn to write our name in "bone" and make a mini Day of the Dead clay sugar skull.

We'll create our own replica by doing a brightly colored cut out painting and make a mini totem pole bookmark.

Building Worlds Through Sight CH07

The best writing uses imagery, metaphor, and sensory details to create a visual picture, but we can take it a step further. This workshop will take students on nature walks in the local Sewickley area; give them the opportunity to create photo collages, shape poems, self-portraits, and other works of art; and write posts for a weekly group blog!

 

Creature Feature: Metamorphosis CH08

Ever wondered how some animals grow in eggs or why a frog starts out as a tadpole? How do different animals' habitats make them look the way they do? In this workshop, students will explore some of nature's greatest transformers while imagining special creatures of their own to draw and write about. We'll finish up with a Halloween party where students can dress as their favorite shape-shifters!

Relief painting creates texture and dimension through building layers. In this 2-hour workshop, students will choose a subject, design and cut from cardboard media, then build their vision into a work of art which comes to life through multiple layers of color and dimension.

Beginner Wheel Throwing CH14
