This is the perfect class for students who have never played guitar, used to play, or who have never stopped playing. The instructor will adapt to any student or instrument – classical, f-hole, electric, etc; all styles are equal. Basic music fundamentals (such as how to read music and chord formations), jazz, contemporary and classical styles will be covered. Cost of any necessary books is in addition to the tuition fee.

Lessons in guitar are half-hour, private lessons. Students must provide instrument.

Tuesday Strings MU03
9/12/2017 -10/31/2017
6:00:00 PM - 9:00:00 PM
Smith, Rachel
Welcome to the world of strings! Our goal is to encourage and nurture a healthy relationship with music in students ages 6 and up. In a relaxed and collaborative environment, students will learn to read music fluently, properly hold their instruments and bows, develop an understanding of beginner music theory, rhythm, listening and sight-reading skills and, most importantly, how to practice. Lessons will be based on classical training techniques, but study of alternative musical genres will be encouraged in interested students. Beginner, intermediate and advanced private lessons are offered to cello students. Cost of any necessary books is in addition to the tuition fee. Lessons for cello or violin are half-hour, private lessons. Students must provide instrument.

Tuesday Voice & Piano MU04
9/12/2017 - 10/31/2017
6:00:00 PM - 9:00:00 PM
Smith, Rachel
Students ages 6 and up may enroll in beginner voice lessons, no previous experience required. Focus will be placed on proper posture, correct breathing techniques, solfege/sight-singing, and ear training. Students will eventually add the study of popular songs and introductory music theory to their practice. If a student is studying another instrument as well, focus will be placed on how voice lessons can inform greater understanding of their instrumental development. Multi-instrumentalists will be encouraged to bring their instruments to lessons in order to get comfortable accompanying themselves while singing.

Thursday Strings MU05
9/14/2017 - 11/2/2017
